Technology and Disaster Preparedness
Technology can assist with many aspects of Disaster Preparedness
Having a central record of people, skills, plans and equipment is a task well suited to software. Other software could be used to create contact trees and routes, organization charts, and evacuation / meeting plans.
Keeping track of where people are, their condition, where they are going, needs and similar things is also a task that software could make much simpler.
Information is critical to dealing with any emergency situation. New technologies like VOIP, IM and WIFI, along with tried and true things like HAM Radio and auto-patches need software to run, and open channels to vast amounts of information.
Software could also provide things like training, simulation and coordination.
